What is “Wide Format Printing”

This production method is used for printing solvent ink-jet ink "roll to roll" onto rolls of vinyl media up to 1.6m wide. This printing process uses CMYK+O values.

Advantages of Wide Format Printing

  • Ideal for producing vivid full colour images as well as closely matched spot colour branding.
  • Can print variable data including individual names.
  • Only one set up charge is required regardless of the number of print colours.
  • Can be cut to custom shapes.
  • Edge-to-edge branding can be achieved.

Limitations of Wide Format Printing

  • Metallic and neon/fluorescent colours are not available.
  • White print cannot be produced on clear stock.
  • Roll stocks are flexible, not rigid, so to stand on their own we would need to mount an adhesive vinyl onto a rigid substrate (such as ACM, corflute or foamboard)

Artwork Requirements of Wide Format Printing

You can supply your own artwork, or we will set up the artwork for you and supply an electronic draft to help you visualise what the end result will look like.

There are some restrictions we have to take into consideration when setting up your file:

  • Artwork can be supplied in either vector or bitmap format (vector preferred/recommend for larger items)
  • Supplied bitmaps must be higher than 300DPI resolution at the actual print size.
  • A 5mm bleed should be added to the artwork if it bleeds off the product.

Examples of products that can be printed on the wide format printer

Below are some of the products that we can digitally print on our wide format printer for you. The featured image may not be of a digitally printed product (that's because many of our items can be branded in different ways).
