Your Ultimate Rebranding Checklist

Whether you are refreshing your logo or completely updating your brand, our rebranding checklist is exactly what you need. Containing a thorough list of the places you’ll need to update your logo at, plus how to promote the change to your clients, you really will want to keep our ultimate rebranding checklist handy!

Rebranding Checklist for NZ Businesses

Businesses rebrand for all sorts of reasons, such as for a new owner, to improve their image or in response to changing times. Once the decision has been made, typically a business will work with a graphic designer to complete the entire rebranding process. A rebranding package would include logo, colours, fonts, email signatures, social media profiles and other stationery requirements.

Once complete, it’s then up to the business to roll out their new logo and branding, and that’s where things can get complicated. However, we don’t think they should be, which is why we’ve made a checklist for you to follow when working through your rebranding process.

Make a decision as to whether you want to roll your new branding out all at once, or bit by bit, such as when your stationery runs out. There is both pros and cons for both options. Waiting until you have used your stationery helps reduce wastage and saves you money. But a fractured roll out can cause confusion amongst your customers. On the other hand, doing everything at once minimises disruption to everyone and gives you the opportunity to introduce your brand all at once, but can cost more in printing materials.

Undertake a stocktake of the places where your old logo and branding can be found. You’ll actually be surprised, as it will be in more places than you think!

  • Website – your website banner, forms, watermarking, graphics, auto reply emails and blogs
  • Emails – your email signature, any headers and autoreply emails
  • Apparel – your staff uniforms and badges, backpacks and promotional pens, umbrellas etc
  • Your invoicing – your Xero or MYOB invoices are likely to feature your logo and brand colours. Your till receipts instore will also need to be updated
  • Directory listings – if your business is listed in one of the many online directories, you will need to login and update your branding. The same goes for other websites your brand can be seen on
  • Google My Business and Google Maps. You may even want to post an update announcing your rebranding too
  • Sponsorships – if you have sponsored a school, sports club or other organisation, be sure to email them with your updated logo. If the logo is on a sign, you may wish to offer them a printed sticker or alternative to post over the old one
  • Social media – all of your social media accounts need to be updated, even the ones you don’t use often. From your platform icon, through to your post graphics, banners and advertisements, everything needs to be replaced
  • Signage – building, vehicle and other types of signage also need updating. Chat with us first, as we will look to give you the best value branded signage in NZ
  • Printed materials – this includes letterheads, business cards, loyalty cards, flyers, brochures, gift vouchers, menus, packaging and marketing materials
  • Do some Googling – use Google and other search engines to find images and mentions on your brand online. This can help you to identify those places you have not yet identified. It’s also a great opportunity to refresh all of your online profiles, as Google does like to have brand consistency wherever your business is mentioned
  • Identify the dimensions and file types that you will need for your new logo and graphics. These do vary depending on where they are used. For example, png is great for logos, while jpg is best suited for website banners.

Promoting Your Updated Brand

Now comes the fun part: introducing and promoting your new brand to your customers and target audience. The approach you take will obviously depend upon whether you have chosen to roll it out once, or in bits and pieces. Just note though, that it takes a lot of promotion to reach everyone and the best way to do this, is by presenting your rebrand in multiple ways.

For instance, you can send out an email to those on your database with your new brand, share it on social media, post a letter via snail mail, organise a letterbox flyer drop, add branded merchandise such as fridge magnets and notepads with orders and even run a themed competition to create buy in.

Our team can absolutely help with the printing of new stationery and other marketing and promotional materials. Our in house graphic designers can also assist with your business rebranding too! Order directly through our print store, pop instore to see us or get in touch via email for more information.
