Owners Pavilion Signage

Love Racing approached Positive Signs to produce and install feature signage for the new Owners Pavilion bar at Wingatui Racecourse in Dunedin.

The project formed part of a wider fit-out designed to create a dedicated hospitality space for horse owners on race days, with branding that aligned consistently with other Love Racing sites around New Zealand.

The signage needed to create a strong visual impact while working within the constraints of a newly constructed timber pavilion building that was still evolving during the production process.

Our Approach

The supplied artwork featured bold purple directional arrows, matte black backgrounds and large dimensional lettering designed to create a premium, high-contrast finish.

Because the project was managed remotely from the North Island while construction continued onsite in Dunedin, communication and accurate site measurements became a critical part of the process. Multiple site visits were required as the pavilion build progressed and structural changes were made.

As construction developed, adjustments were needed to accommodate vertical framing elements, power outlets and changing finished dimensions. Updated measurements and mockups were supplied throughout the process to help stakeholders visualise the final result before production continued.

Production & Fabrication

The project combined multiple fabrication and installation techniques to achieve the final result.

Large matte black ACM panels formed the base of the signage system, while oversized purple arrow elements were wrapped using high-performance vinyl selected to match supplied brand colours.

The dimensional “Owners Pavilion” lettering was CNC router-cut from 6mm white acrylic to create depth and visibility against the dark background panels. Positioning patterns were produced in-house to ensure accurate placement during installation.

Careful planning also went into panel joins, alignment and installation sequencing to minimise visible joins and maintain the clean visual lines of the design.

Installation

The ACM background panels were cut and fitted onsite to accommodate slight inconsistencies within the timber structure, while the dimensional lettering and layered graphics were installed using a combination of high-strength construction adhesive and VHB tape systems.

The finished result created a strong visual focal point within the pavilion space, balancing bold branding with a clean and professional finish.
